Duncan Hunter is an American politician who has been a Republican member of the House of Representatives since 1981 from California's 52nd congressional district in northern and eastern San Diego. It was previously numbered the 42nd District from 1981 to 1983 and then the 45th District from 1983 to 1993. Hunter was the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee during the 109th Congress. Hunter is currently seeking the Republican Party nomination for President of the United States. Below is David Shankbone's interview with the Congressman.
This is definitely one of my favorite interviews with Duncan Hunter. The interviewer is obviously a big liberal, and he and Hunter go back and forth. It's worth the read!

Why Chuck Yeager Likes Duncan Hunter
The unfolding 2008 presidential campaigns have brought some unusual names to the forefront of American politicking. Among them, Oprah Winfrey, that citadel of expertise on domestic and foreign affairs, gives her flamboyant support to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., while the intellectually vacant social activist vote of Barbra Streisand goes to Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
In contrast, consider the preference expressed by retired Brig. Gen. Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager. A true American superhero of unrivaled pedigree, Yeager was the first human being ever to fly "faster than a speeding bullet," as he successfully broke the sound barrier six decades ago in the Bell X-1. He went on to reach numerous other aviation milestones as a test pilot, eventually achieving the rank of brigadier general in the United States Air Force.
In a letter that has been recently distributed to Republican voters in early deciding states, Yeager enthusiastically offers his support for the presidential candidacy of Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif. His reasons for doing so are extremely telling.

Hunter ignoring Iowa (upbeat, focused on NH)
Note that this article eas written on the day of the Iowa Caucus, but it explains that Duncan Hunter has put much more emphasis on New Hampshire whose primaries are today!

All right, after all this time I finally endorsed Fred Thompson as president on my Monday show. And now I'm going to flip flop.
I kept hearing....."I like Duncan Hunter, but he doesn't stand a chance."
But then if that's who I REALLY want and so many others all say the same damn thing, and we all vote for him, then dammit, HE DOES STAND A CHANCE!

No Compromise! Support Duncan Hunter for President!
No Compromise When It Comes to Being Right! is officially endorsing Duncan Hunter for President. If any candidate represents true conservative values Duncan Hunter represents those values. Duncan Hunter wants to protect America, and her interests, and will stand to protect the interests of families, and individuals and more importantly protect our Constitution.
The slate of candidates that have been presented to Republicans is wrought with candidates who do not and never have stood on conservative values, and why any conservative would vote for most of these candidates is beyond any reason! Just because the media has picked the Republican darling doesn’t mean we have to stand by and let it happen. We see it as another attempt at watering down our party, and we believe it would suit the RINOs to go over to the Democratic party, and conservatize that party rather than coming into the Republican party and liberalizing this party!

Northern Nevadans Listen to Duncan Hunter
After making a round of campaign stops in Northern Nevada after the Christmas holiday, Congressman Duncan Hunter found that Nevadans support his run for President. Congressman Duncan Hunter attended a townhall meeting in Reno on December 27, 2007 where there were almost 50 in attendance. All 3 of the local affiliate stations turned out to cover the meeting and interview Congressman Hunter. There were two other local stations and the local newspaper there to cover the event. Hunter spoke on the issues of unfair trade practices with China, the threat of terrorism in our country through our open borders and our rising problem with illegal immigration. General Chuck Yeager also spoke at the townhall meeting and told his story about how he broke the sound barrier and how the creation of jets came about.
The next evening, Congressman Hunter and General Yeager spoke to a standing room only crowd in Carson City, NV. There were over 100 people in attendance. Nevada’s First Lady Dawn Gibbons was there to meet him when he walked in the door and led a cheering section as he entered into the townhall meeting. The crowd in Carson City were very receptive to his message and liked each of the points that Hunter discussed. He spoke more in depth on the issues of education, the War on Terror, Iran, unfair trade with China and our economy. General Yeager also told his story of his career in the Air Force and told them why he supported Duncan Hunter. The people who showed up at this townhall meeting were so thrilled to support Duncan Hunter and they were anxious to spread the word about him to their friends. They all left with at least one of the new CDs that the campaign has just released. This CD is an excellent tool to spread the message about Duncan Hunter and it’s easy for folks to listen to it in their car on the way to work or wherever they are traveling.
During this trip Congressman Hunter and General Yeager toured the Nevada State Museum in Carson City and were able to see the Carson City Mint and see how the machine operated. Congressman Hunter also visited a locally owned and operated outdoor outfitter called Mark Fore and Strike. This business has been owned by 4 generations of the same family. Congressman Hunter enjoyed meeting with the Stodtmeisters (owners) and appreciated their knowledgeable staff who helped him pick out a gift for the Yeagers.
