Duncan Hunter Offers a Return to Reaganism

This is an awesome article for Duncan Hunter explaining why he is the best candidate to follow in the cowboy bootsteps of Ronald Reagan and return this country to its moral and conservative roots.

Most rock ribbed conservatives have been either very disappointed or simply bewildered by the GOP and its leaders since Ronald Wilson Reagan returned to his beloved California ranch in 1989. The cowboy boots he left have not been filled since that time. There is no doubt that Reagan is a giant among Presidents in our great nation’s history. Polls of serious historians and citizens alike usually place the Gipper in the top 5 or 10, out of the 43 commanders in chief we have had over 220 years in this Constitutional Republic. I personally put him in the top 3.

Of course, we have since had some genuinely high moments as conservatives. The election euphoria of Bush 41 and Bush 43 over some truly repugnant socialists, the 1994 Contract with America with its historical gains for Republicans in Congress, and lightning quick victory over Saddam in both Gulf Wars I & II. But something went missing along the way. That something is Reaganism.

The signs were everywhere that the GOP was, perhaps unknowingly, moving away from its Reagan roots. Things such as GHWB’s “kinder, gentler” nation, the 1996 election year tussle led by Fred Thompson and Bob Dole to eliminate the GOP platform, Newt Gingrich’s cocky rise and fall, and GWB’s “compassionate conservative” meme all served to distance the party from the wisdom of Ronald Reagan; each in its own way.
