About Duncan Hunter

- Duncan Hunter's Biography Duncan Hunter was born May 31, 1948 in Riverside, California. He lives in East San Diego County with his wife, Lyne. They have two sons, one who is in his third tour in Afghanistan. Duncan Hunter served in Vietnam in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers. After returning from war, he used the G.I. Bill and attended what is now the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Upon completing his degree, he opened a storefront legal office. In 1980, he challenged 18-year incumbent Democrat Lionel Van Deerlin. He won. He has since held that Congressional seat, and he was the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee from 2002 to 2006. He is now a Ranking Member of the committee, and he works to ensure our military is successful and has the equipment to be safe. Duncan Hunter is responsible for 59 miles of fence separating the Sand Diego and Mexican boarder, reducing crime by 90%. He wrote The Secure Fence Act to extend the San Diego Boarder Fence 854 miles across the southern boarder. It was signed into law on October 26, 2006. Duncan Hunter proudly stands for God (devout Baptist), life, country, and family.
